Ukraine will receive from the German defense concern Rheinmetall prototypes of artillery shells capable of hitting targets at a distance of 100 kilometers.

The general director of Rheinmetall, Armin Papperger, stated this, Rubryka reports, referring to the German media outlet Handelsblatt.

During the event at the Düsseldorf-Boss Industrial Club, the general director of Rheinmetall said the concern plans to provide Ukraine with hundreds of thousands of rounds of ammunition, including long-range prototypes.

"Artillery changes the rules (on the battlefield – ed.)," said Papperger.

The military portal Defense Express writes that it is probably a prototype of a long-range 155-caliber artillery projectile called Vulcano. In 2023, it became known that Germany was transferring laser illuminators for the Vulcano version, capable of flying at a distance of 70 kilometers, to the Ukrainian army.

What is known about the joint venture with Germany

Rheinmetall is currently Ukraine's most important defense industrial partner. It supplies military equipment, anti-aircraft systems, ammunition, military trucks, and mobile medical equipment and provides services.

We remind you that the Federal Antimonopoly Office of Germany allowed Rheinmetall to create a joint venture with Ukraine at the end of September—LLC Rheinmetall Ukrainian Defense Industry. It was reported that the company would be based in Kyiv.

We remind you that it was previously reported that the German concern, Rheinmetall, is negotiating the construction of a tank plant in Ukraine.

Also, the German defense concern Rheinmetall and the Ukrainian Defense Industry officially announced the creation of a joint venture for the repair and maintenance of combat equipment transferred by Germany and other Western partners.
