Rubryka writes that the President of Switzerland, Viola Amherd, a member of the Federal Council, informed about this in an interview with the media outlet Blick.
Amherd met with the pope the day before during her visit to Italy, calling it an "interesting exchange of views" in a "cordial atmosphere."
"We talked, in particular, about the war in Ukraine and other places of conflict in the world. We invited the Holy See (to the peace summit. – ed.). The Vatican is very positive about the peace conference," Amhred shared.
She also confirmed that Switzerland sent out invitations to the summit this week, hinting that Brazil, India, China, and South Africa are among the recipient countries.
"I'm sure there will be a good turnout," she said.
According to the Swiss president, the presence of as many countries as possible will be a sign of the success of the Global Peace Summit.
"If we can find a common denominator, that will be something. Another success would be if we could approach the peace process in specific terms. We have to think ahead, particularly about the day after tomorrow," Amherd added.
Global Peace Summit in Switzerland
As Rubryka reported, in January 2024, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, and the President of the Swiss Confederation, Viola Amherd, agreed to start preparations for holding the Global Peace Summit in Switzerland at the level of the state leaders.
We will recall that in November 2022, Zelensky, for the first time, introduced the "peace formula," which should contribute to the end of a full-scale war on fair terms.
The aforementioned "formula" will be discussed during the Global Peace Summit, which will be held in Switzerland. The Russian Federation is not among the invited participants. Still, as noted by the head of the President's Office, Andrii Yermak, the terrorist state will be able to take part in the meeting during the subsequent summits.
