On April 11, in a crucial match against the Kharkiv-based Volleyball Sports Club "Law Academy," [VC Yurydychna Akademiya Kharkiv – ed.], the "Zhytychi-Polissia" club secured the "bronze" medal in the 2023/24 Superleague-Dmart season. The match ended with a dominating 3-0 victory. This achievement solidifies the team's consistency and capability to compete with top-level adversaries, as nine teams from eight regions took part in the Superleague-Dmart.
On March 17, the "Zhytychi-Polissia" team also earned third place in the Ukrainian Cup after defeating VC "Law Academy." Their performance showcases their determination in the Ukrainian volleyball scene. It's worth noting that Mykola Rudnytskyi, a player from the Zhytomyr club, was named the top central blocker in the championship.
Looking back on the successful season, head coach Serhiy Tereykovskyi extended his gratitude to the players, the entire team of the club, partners, and most notably, Ukraine's defenders:
"First of all, I want to mention that the team's management and our general partner, BGV Group Management, have made great efforts to improve the conditions for our team's preparation for national and international competitions. We have purchased modern data analysis and strategy planning equipment and a state-of-the-art statistics program. Throughout the season, these factors proved valuable in helping us study opposing teams and analyze our errors – both collective and individual. Our access to one of the top gyms in the Zhytomyr region greatly enhanced our training and rehabilitation facilities. Consistently utilizing the same playing hall for our practices was crucial for the team's preparation and the comfort of our players. Together with our partners, we have also upgraded our training equipment: specifically, we have updated our volleyball equipment for team training. We are immensely grateful to Ukraine's armed forces and all those involved for their efforts in bringing us closer to victory over the aggressor state. We salute you!"
Additionally, according to the season's results, three players from "Zhytychi-Polissia" have been selected for the extended list of potential candidates for the national team, as announced by the Ukrainian Volleyball Federation. These players are Viktor Shapoval, Mykola Rudnytskyi, and Mykyta Luban.
Throughout the season, the players delivered impressive performances and put on a show in their matches. The team from Zhytomyr, "Zhytychi-Polissia," not only secured two bronze medals at nationwide competitions but also made their first-ever appearance in a prestigious European tournament, the European Volleyball Confederation Cup (ECV). This marked the club's debut in international competitions. They won one of their matches and lost the second one.
After finishing the season with success, the players and staff of the "Zhytychi-Polissia" club are filled with optimism and determination. They aim to achieve even more wins and elevate their gameplay in the future.
