Ukrainian civilian victims up by 20% in March – British intelligence

In March 2024, the United Nations (UN) Monitoring Mission reported that 604 civilians in Ukraine were killed or injured due to enemy attacks.

The British Ministry of Defense reported that on Twitter.

The number of civilian casualties rose by 20% from the previous month [February ed.]. As mentioned before, the casualties were caused by terrorist missiles, enemy airstrikes, and an escalation in the shelling along the front line.

"The report emphasizes the increase in the number of coordinated attacks on critical infrastructure facilities in Ukraine, as a result of which 20 facilities were destroyed or damaged," the intelligence agency adds.

The report also mentions the death of 57 children. This is twice more than the previous month and is directly related to Russia's use of aviation ammunition.

According to intelligence reports, since the Russian invasion of Ukraine began, there have been 31,366 civilian casualties:

  • 10,810 deaths;
  • 20,556 injuries.

Rubryka previously reported that the number of children who died as a result of Russian attacks across Ukraine increased by almost 40% this year compared to last year.

According to UN-verified data, 25 children died as a result of the attacks from January 1 to March 31, 2024; the youngest was only two months old.

Nine children were reportedly killed in the attacks during the first three weeks of April.

According to official UN data, since the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, at least 600 children have died as a result of enemy attacks. More than 1,350 children were injured.

UNICEF added that the real number of killed and injured children is probably much higher.

As reported, the systems of the Patriot anti-aircraft missile complex successfully repel ballistic missiles of the Russian Federation, which could cause huge losses and destruction.

For reference:

Recently, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dmytro Kuleba, announced that Ukraine has found 100 free Patriots worldwide but first wants to get seven to protect against Russian missiles.

In addition, according to the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, Ukraine is ready to lend seven batteries to the Patriot air defense system.

On April 18, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz noted that NATO partners could supply Ukraine with six Patriot systems.

Furthermore, the Netherlands has publicly declared its readiness to buy the Patriot battery, an essential factor.

At the same time, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, said that the Netherlands is not the only country ready to buy the Patriot air defense battery right now for further transfer to Ukraine.
