The Naval Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces confirmed the strike on Kommuna ship of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation in the temporarily occupied Crimea.

This was announced by the spokesman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Dmytro Pletenchuk, Rubryka reports.

According to him, the nature of the damage is currently being verified.

"Today in Crimea, the Ukrainian Navy got another ship from the composition of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation Kommuna. The nature of the damage is being verified, but it is clear that the ship can no longer perform the task. This will be repeated until the Russians run out of ships or they withdraw from Crimea," Pletenchuk wrote on his Facebook page.

Reference about the ship

Kommuna is the oldest ship in the Russian fleet. It was launched in 1913 during World War I and became part of the Baltic Fleet in 1915.

Today, it is part of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation and is based in occupied Sevastopol.

Kommuna is designed to search and rescue submarines and performs the role of a carrier of underwater vehicles.

This is the only ship in the Black Sea that can perform similar tasks.

In 2022, this very ship was sent to search for the Moskva missile cruiser, which sank on April 14 as a result of a Ukrainian missile attack.

Explosions in the occupied Crimea on April 21

We will remind that on the morning of April 21, explosions rang out in the temporarily occupied Sevastopol. It was reported that a fire broke out on one of the ships in the bay. Local and OSINT resources wrote about the attack on the Kommuna rescue ship in Sukharna Bay of Sevastopol.

At the same time, the Russian representative in Sevastopol, Mykhailo Razvozhaev, claimed that "the military repelled an anti-ship missile attack on one of the ships."

However, the Crimean Wind Telegram channel noted that the Kommuna ship could probably have been damaged.

Subsequently, the Ukrainian Navy commented on the fire on the ship after the morning explosions in Sevastopol: similar incidents, like today, April 21, in Sevastopol, will be repeated at the facilities of the Russian military infrastructure in the temporarily occupied Crimea.
