The National Security Council's strategic communications coordinator, John Kirby, stated this.
"I knew that this issue would arise. Listen, we are talking about different conflicts, airspace, and threat patterns," the American National Security Council representative said.
Kirby also noted that from the very beginning of the Russian Federation's full-scale war against Ukraine, President Joe Biden made it clear that the United States did not plan to participate in hostilities in Ukraine.
He added that the US provided Ukraine with what it needed to protect its airspace.
"We are providing Ukraine with the weapons it needs to protect its airspace. And unfortunately, we cannot do that today because we do not have the additional national security funding that Ukraine so desperately needs," the coordinator added.
It should be noted that President Volodymyr Zelensky, after the meeting of the Staff of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief on April 15, said that Western countries can help Ukraine protect itself from Russian attacks in the same way as they can help Israel defend itself against Iranian strikes.
"Israel is not a member of NATO, and there was no need for anything like the activation of Article 5. And no one was drawn into the war. They simply helped to protect lives. The Shahed drones in the sky of Ukraine sound the same as in the sky of the Middle East. Ballistics hits the same everywhere if they are not knocked down.
The skies of Europe could have long ago received precisely the kind of protection it needs if Ukraine had the same full support of its partners in shooting down drones and missiles. Terror must lose wholly and everywhere, not somewhere more, somewhere less," the President noted.
For reference:
On the evening of April 14, Iran launched over 300 missiles and drones towards Israel. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) assert that they successfully intercepted 99% of the projectiles, but a few were able to evade their defenses and strike an air base in the southern part of the country. As a result, at least 31 individuals required medical assistance.
In Iran, these strikes were called a response to "numerous crimes by Israel," in particular, the attack against the Iranian consulate in the Syrian capital, Damascus, which occurred on April 1.
According to Western media, Israel will respond to Iran, but the scale of the response will be determined at a meeting of the military cabinet.
The US denounced Iran's attack and declared its unwavering support for Israel's security. However, the US has stated that it will not engage in any offensive actions against Iran.
