Solutions from Ukraine: Boryspil to build anti-radiation shelter near lyceum for 500 people

A new anti-radiation shelter is being built in Boryspil, in the Kyiv region, specifically for the "Patriot" lyceum students. The shelter will serve a dual purpose and accommodate almost five hundred people simultaneously.

Kyiv Regional Military Administration reports this on Telegram.

What is the problem?

Reportedly, the Boryspil Lyceum "Patriot" currently has 970 students in attendance. Additionally, the institution hosts various clubs and sports teams.

During air raids, students descend into a shelter designed for only 230 people and use a storage facility near the lyceum.

What is the solution?

A dual-purpose anti-radiation shelter is being built for the students of the "Patriot" lyceum. Almost half a thousand people will be able to stay at the shelter at the same time.

The shelter will make it possible to organize part-time training in the lyceum.

How does it work?

According to the military administration, the facility's foundation, walls, and ceiling are currently completed. Builders are also working on waterproofing the building. Additionally, internal construction is being carried out simultaneously, including:

• construction of interior walls,
• repair of premises.

Additionally, the new shelter will have the following systems installed:

• Ventilation and air conditioning;
• Water supply and sewage;
• Heating.

Along with the typical rooms, the shelter will also be equipped with the following:

• medical office,
• playroom,
• dining room.

"Construction is being carried out taking into account inclusiveness and accessibility. It is financed by the Fund for Elimination of the Consequences of Armed Aggression," the regional military administration reports.

Previously, Rubryka reported that two schools in Uzyn, located in the Bila Tserkva district of Kyiv region, have started constructing anti-radiation shelters.

In addition, it should be noted that new building regulations for the construction of civil defense protective structures came into force on November 1, 2023.
