Zelensky denounces Trump’s “primitive” plan to surrender Ukrainian territory to Russia for peace deal

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, criticized US presidential candidate Donald Trump's proposals to hand over Ukrainian territories to Russia in exchange for an end to the war, calling them "primitive."

The Ukrainian head of state said this in an interview with Politico.

"I need very strong arguments. I don't need a fantastic idea. I need a real idea because people's lives are at stake," the president remarked.

Zelensky noted that he is ready to listen to Trump's proposals for ending the war, but, according to him, "if they consist in the fact that we simply give up our territories, then they are very primitive."

At the same time, as the publication emphasizes, the president of Ukraine respectfully spoke of Trump as a leader with whom he seeks to build a constructive partnership.

"We conveyed the messages and the context through the appropriate people. We said that we would like Donald Trump to come to Ukraine, see everything with his own eyes, and draw his own conclusions. In any case, I am ready to meet with him and discuss this issue," Zelensky pointed out.

The head of state also said that Trump expressed interest in accepting the invitation but did not set a date.

It should be noted that earlier, the former President of the United States, Donald Trump, hoped that he would not have to resolve the issue of whether to help Ukraine with weapons or allow Volodymyr Putin to seize it.
