Russia shells dormitory in Poltava region, wounded toll rising

As a result of a Russian attack on a family dormitory in the Poltava region on the evening of April 8, the number of injured people increased to 12, including two children.

The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ihor Klymenko, reported that on Telegram.

"Almost 100 rescuers worked in the Poltava region that night. The enemy hit an apartment building.

The occupiers launched a rocket attack yesterday evening on a two-story apartment building where about 30 people lived. Unfortunately, one person died, and 12 others were injured. Among them are two children," said the head of the department.

Klymenko reported that units of the State Emergency Service rescued two people, and psychologists of the National Police and State Emergency Service provided assistance to about 20 residents.

As per the ministry head's statement, the missile strike also caused damage to the following:

  • Two three-story buildings;
  • One four-story building;
  • Approximately a dozen cars.

The rescue operation lasted more than three hours.

On April 8, in the evening, the Russian invaders launched a rocket attack on a civilian house in the Poltava region.

Also, on March 30, the Russians launched an attack on the Poltava region using Shahed drones. They hit a vital infrastructure target in the Poltava district.

It is worth adding that enemy troops attacked Ukraine with Shahed UAVs and S-300 missiles on the night of April 9. Air defense forces destroyed all attack drones. Anti-aircraft defense was operating in the Lviv region during the UAV attack. Explosions were also heard in Poltava and Khmelnytskyi regions.
