Ukrainian military enhances arsenal with 80 new domestic weapons and equipment, including ammunition, drones, and robots

During the first quarter of 2024, the Ministry of Defense authorized the use of over 80 domestically produced weapons and military equipment samples within Ukraine's armed forces.

The Deputy Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Ivan Havryliuk, wrote this in a column for Interfax-Ukraine.

"For the first three months of 2024, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has codified (accepted for use in the army) more than 80 samples of weapons and military equipment of domestic production," he informed.

The official noted that the largest group in this list is ammunition of various types and calibers.

At the same time, the second group regarding the number of approved samples is UAVs.

"In addition to the modernized UAVs for air reconnaissance, this line also includes completely new drones of various types: both FPV-kamikaze and multi-use attack UAVs designed for different ranges," the lieutenant general noted.

The Deputy Minister of Defense also noted that in January-March 2024, almost two dozen different models of domestically produced drones were put into operation.

"The third group in terms of the number of weapons and military equipment samples codified in the first three months of the current year are ground-based robotic complexes and EW devices," he noted.

Havrilyuk described how Ukrainian-produced robotic platforms are capable of carrying out various tasks, serving as both fire support (equipped with combat modules such as machine guns and ATGMs to strike enemy targets), transport for evacuating injured soldiers from the battlefield, and performing logistical duties by delivering supplies to the front lines.

In particular, among domestically produced EW means are tactical-level systems designed to create a local "dome" to cover the combat positions of Ukrainian troops or military equipment.

According to the lieutenant general, in the list of samples of weapons and equipment of domestic production, which the relevant units of the Ministry of Defense codified in the first quarter of 2024, in addition to the ones mentioned above, there are also armored and special equipment, 120 mm mortar, means of communication and vehicles.

"Domestic "defense" enterprises now offer many novelties. I cannot tell in detail about their features, but I will emphasize that some of them have unique combat characteristics. I hope the aggressor will feel it soon," the deputy minister said.
