Ukraine’s energy grid has withstood massive Russian attack, but the situation is extremely difficult – PM

Ukraine has withstood another massive Russian missile and drone attack.

The power system is intact, but there are problems with power supply in a number of regions, PM Denys Shmyhal said.

Ukraine is importing electricity from Romania, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, and Moldova to keep the system stable.

All services are working to overcome the consequences of the attack, as they restored some of the facilities, damaged during last week's attack.

Due to acceptable weather conditions, a number of communities and cities have already decided to end the heating season. Turning off the heating will help to better balance the energy system.

On the night of March 29, Russian forces fired 60 drones and 39 missiles of various types at Ukraine. Air defense managed to destroy 56 drones and 29 missiles.

The main enemy attack was aimed at energy facilities, as enemy forces attacked three thermal power plants in Ukraine, and the equipment was seriously damaged as a result of the attack.

Emergency shutdowns have been introduced in some regions.

"Ukraine needs more air defense systems to secure critical infrastructure and protect the population. This is the main subject of conversation with our international partners."

Air alerts were announced in almost all regions of Ukraine. There were reports of explosions in Dnipro city and region, Cherkasy, Khmelnytsky, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Lviv regions.

The Dnipropetrovs'k region suffered from Russian attacks: energy facilities and a dacha cooperative were damaged, and five civilians were wounded, including a five-year-old girl..
