Russian forces use large-caliber ammo to attack Kharkiv, injuring 16
On March 27, Russian troops attacked Kharkiv with a long-range bomb that had not been used the two years since the invasion's start..
Russian forces could have used D-30 UMPBs to strike Kharkiv, says police chief Volodymyr Tymoshko.
"It's something between a guided bomb and a missile. The final conclusions will be made by explosive experts. This munition is powerful enough to actually destroy the two houses between which it hit and several houses at a distance."
Head of the regional police said that this is the first time that Russia has fired this type of munition at the city.
Authorities report one person dead and at least 18 wounded.
"There were two hits at the secondary school, and at the middle of residential buildings," said Serhii Bolvinov, head of the National Police Investigation Department.
On March 27, Russian troops conducted two strikes in Kharkiv, hitting a residential neighborhood. Five-story residential buildings were damaged. Among the victims of the Russian attack are four children aged three months, 1.8 years, 10 and 13 years.
