Ukraine and Denmark sign arms procurement agreement
Ukraine's Defense Procurement Agency and Denmark's Defense Acquisition and Logistics Organization (DALO) have signed a memorandum of understanding and cooperation in defense procurement, Rubryka reports.
"We sincerely thank our partners from Denmark for their steadfast support of Ukraine. This event is another important step in deepening our cooperation in supplying the Armed Forces of Ukraine with modern weapons and military equipment," said Ukraine's Deputy Minister of Defense Dmytro Klimenkov.
Defense Procurement Agency and the DALO have agreed to exchange experiences and cooperate in the field of arms procurement in external markets.
The director of the Defense Procurement Agency, Marina Bezrukovа, said procurement of modern weapons in cooperation with international partners was one of the agency's key focuses.
"And we are convinced that strengthening cooperation with the Defense Acquisition and Logistics Organization of the Ministry of Defense of Denmark will contribute to the conclusion of new contracts and modernization of our Armed Forces," she said.
According to the defense ministry's press service, the event was attended by Minister Klimenkov, Defense Procurement Agency Director Bezrukovа, and Commander of DALO, Lieutenant General Kim Jørgensen.
As Rubryka reported, Ukrainian Minister of Defense Rustem Umierov called on Denmark to assist, if possible, in funding the training of Ukrainian pilots on F-16 jets in other countries.
Denmark's assistance to Ukraine
Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen stated that Ukraine could not win the war without weapons, and the world must accelerate and increase support.
"We should support you much more because Ukraine cannot win the war without weapons. Words alone are not enough," she said.
The day after the statement was made, Denmark decided to transfer all artillery available in reserve to Ukraine.
On February 22, the Danish government announced a new military aid package worth nearly $250 million. Denmark also announced a 10-year security guarantee agreement with Ukraine.
Denmark and the Netherlands lead the aviation coalition for training Ukrainian pilots on American F-16 fighter jets. These countries have special flight simulators. Just today, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky showed a video of Ukrainian pilots training on F-16s in Denmark.
Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen visited Lviv, where she and President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed an Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Security and Long-term Support between Denmark and Ukraine.
