Moldova dismisses alleged drone attack on Russian-controlled Transnistria

Reports and footage circulated in Transnistria on March 17 about the alleged drone attack at a military unit  were edited, Moldovan foreign ministry claims.

The information about an alleged explosion of the Russian-controlled MI-8 helicopter is fake.

Moldovan officials state it was "part of a disinformation campaign designed to cause panic, fear and instability among citizens."

The Interior Minister added that there would be a more detailed explanation from experts, but "it was part of a disinformation campaign and an attempt to provoke instability."

Onn March 17, the media in the Moscow-controlled Transnistrian region of Moldova reported an alleged "attack" on a military unit, but Chisinau denied the attack.

The Moldovan authorities stated that there was no attack, and that these reports were an attempt to create fear and panic.

The Center for Countering Disinformation reported that Russia carried out a provocation in Transnistria with an attack on a military unit with a kamikaze drone.

The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) said that the drone attack in Transnistria was an attempt by Russia to destabilize the situation in Moldova.
