Ukraine's PM and EU Council chief tackle financial support and use of frozen Russian assets
On March 20, Ukraine's Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal met with the EU Council chief Charles Michel.
Shmyhal thanked for the financial assistance and the decision to open negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the EU, which was made in December last year.
Both leaders discussed economic and social support for Ukraine and steps European integration. Shmyhal emphasized the importance of adopting the negotiation framework as soon as possible.
They discussed the importance of legal and practical solutions to use frozen Russian assets for the needs of Ukraine.
He also welcomed the decision of the EU Council to establish a €5 billion fund to assist Ukraine under the European Peace Facility.
Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky discussed with Charles Michel further steps towards the actual start of negotiations on accession to the EU.
