Scholz, Macron, Tusk pledge more arms purchase for Ukraine

During the meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron and Polish PM Donald Tusk in Berlin, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz vowed increased support for Ukraine.

Tusk announced that the next such meeting will be held in a few months, The Guardian reports.

Polish Prime Minister called today's talks "a good new start for the Weimar Triangle."

The Berlin meeting was primarily devoted to helping Ukraine, which continues to repel Russia's large-scale military aggression.

Scholz said that countries will buy more weapons for Ukraine on the world market.

The Chancellor also pledged to call his allies to increase weapons production in Ukraine.

Scholz stated said that Russia's Vladimir Putin should know that support for Ukraine in Europe will not decrease, and they will use frozen assets to financially support Ukraine.

Several initiatives were put forward to have Ukraine join the respective union, and thus turn the "triangle" into a "quadrangle".

The meeting takes place against the backdrop of disagreements between Scholz and Macron, which intensified after the meeting in Paris on February 26.

Then, Macron did not rule out sending troops from partner countries to Ukraine, as the chancellor strongly disagreed.
