Russian ships absent from Black Sea for a week after loss of “Sergey Kotov” boat

After the damage to the patrol vessel "Sergey Kotov," the Russian Federation did not take the Russian Black Sea Fleet ships into the Black Sea for six days.

Dmytro Pletenchuk, the spokesman for the Naval Forces of Ukraine's armed forces, reported this on the telethon air.

It should be noted that on March 5, "Sergey Kotov" was sunk as a result of an attack by the Main Directorate of Intelligence of Ukraine with the help of "Magura 5" surface drones.

Although the ship sustained damage from both naval drone strikes and explosions on board, it managed to stay afloat for a while. However, the occupiers' attempts to tow the sunken ship to the port of Feodosia were ultimately unsuccessful.

Therefore, for almost a week, the ships of the Russian occupiers have been at a safe distance from possible Ukrainian attacks.

In addition, Pletenchuk believes that this is precisely why the Russians began to use aviation more often for attacks on the port infrastructure of Ukrainian cities because this is the only way they can inflict fire damage in conditions when ships are not on duty.

In addition, as the spokesman of the Navy says, the Russians have reduced to a minimum the number of ships that are in the ports of the temporarily occupied Crimea.

"Most of those units could not find a place at the bases in Novorossiysk, Sochi, and Tuapse," the officer said.

For reference:

Earlier, the spokesman reported that Ukraine had seized the initiative on the situation in the Black Sea. However, the enemy adapts to new challenges and reacts to them.

British intelligence also added that Ukraine continues to limit the freedom of maneuver of the Russian fleet in the Black Sea.
