30 veterans and soldiers represent Ukraine at US Force Trials 2024 for the first time
The US Air Force Trials 2024, a competition for veterans opened at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas.
Ukrainian national team was the first to take the field.
The Ukrainian convoy was led by the captain of the national team, 30-year-old National Guard member from Ivano-Frankivsk Yurii Gaponchuk, and 30-year-old soldier Ruslan Sumin.
A fire was lit at the competition. The torch was carried by Vadym Hilchuk, a 23-year-old veteran of the State Border Guard Service.
The Ukrainian national team has 30 veterans, who will compete in 11 adaptive sports, such as swimming, cycling, wheelchair basketball, archery, etc.
The Air Force Trials is hosted by the Ministry of Veterans in cooperation with the Ukrainian NGOs.
The Air Force Trials is a competition for veterans and service members of the US Air Force and Marine Corps that is a qualifying event for the Warrior Games, the largest U.S. adaptive sports tournament for military personnel with injuries and trauma.
