EU Commission VP announces two Ukraine aid tranches worth €6 bln
Ukraine will receive the first tranche of the four-year Ukraine Facility program worth €4.5 billion euros in March, and the second tranche, worth €1.5 billion, will be disbursed in April.
The EU Commission VP Valdis Dombrovskis said that Europe will continue to stand by Ukraine and provide military, financial and other support.
Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said Ukraine is ready for further steps, coordinated with neighboring EU member states to ensure the unblocking of the border and the resumption of exports and transit of Ukrainian products.
He welcomed the European Commission's initiative to involve the European Investment Bank and the EBRD in implementing initiatives to increase the capacity of the Solidarity Roads.
"Thanks to the resumption of the Coordination Platform for the Export of Ukrainian Agricultural Products under the coordinating role of Mr. Valdis Dombrovskis, we can state that we are making progress in developing joint decisions. At the same time, the Ukrainian side daily confirms the high quality of Ukrainian agricultural products supplied to the EU member states."
The Prime Minister noted the constructive approach of the European Commission to extend autonomous trade liberalization measures for Ukraine until June 2025.
Dombrovskis and Shmyhal also discussed preparations for the 9th meeting of the EU-Ukraine Association Council.
On March 8, Valdis Dombrovskis arrived in Ukraine to discuss trade liberalization between the state and the EU bloc.
