During wartime, Ukraine's Ministry of Health has faced increased cyber threats and attempts to interfere with its information systems and databases, requiring enhanced cybersecurity measures, Rubryka reports.

What's the problem?

Developing knowledge and practical skills in cybersecurity is currently crucial. It's the intellectual weapon needed for preventing, detecting, and responding to Russian threats in the cybersecurity field, says Mariia Karchevych, Deputy Minister of Health for Digital Development.

What's the solution?

One of the important factors in strengthening an institution's cybersecurity is the improvement of the qualifications of its key employees through training and workshops.

In cooperation with the US Department of State, the Representation of the US Civilian Research and Development Foundation (CRDF Global) is implementing the program to enhance the cybersecurity level of Ukrainian state structures. It includes cybersecurity audits of selected Ministry of Health institutions, modernization and supply of equipment and software, cybersecurity training, and mentoring programs.

These measures will enhance beneficiary institutions' capacity in cybersecurity, creating resilient and adaptive processes for protecting systems and data.

How does it work?

CRDF Global, in collaboration with the Cyber Unit Technologies expert team, conducted the first training for IT specialists and civil servants to increase awareness of numerous contemporary cyber threats and provide practical skills for responding to existing threats.

Participants in the training acquired specialized knowledge and skills for assessing existing systems and creating reliable protection against cyber threats. They also practically worked through realistic scenarios of interference with information systems, thereby enhancing the overall cybersecurity level of their institutions.

As reported by Rubryka, Ukraine may create the position of a cyber diplomat due to the rapid development of technologies worldwide.
