Ukraine’s cyber intelligence gains access to secret documents in hack attack on Russian defense ministry

Cyber experts from Ukraine's Defense Intelligence have executed another successful special operation against the aggressor state of Russia.

As a result of a DDoS attack, they have gained access to the Russian Ministry of Defense servers, Rubryka reports. 

Thanks to the successful operation, Ukrainian intelligence now possesses information protection and encryption software previously used by the Russian Ministry of Defense and a trove of secret official documentation from the Russian ministry.

This includes orders, reports, directives, briefings, and other documents circulated among over 2,000 Russian military agency structural units. The obtained information allows for establishing the complete structure of the Russian Ministry of Defense and its branches.

The analysis of the acquired data also helped identify the generals, other high-ranking officials of structural units of the Russian Ministry of Defense, as well as deputies, assistants, and specialists — everyone who utilized the software for electronic document flow called "Bureaucrat."

For instance, among the documents acquired by the Ukrainian military intelligence is the official documentation of Russia's deputy minister of defense, Timur Ivanov. The deputy to Shoigu played a significant role in the success of the cyber attack.
