Fighting near Avdiivka is getting under control despite Russian troops gaining successes – AFU spokesman
Although Russian troops are having local successes, Ukrainian forces are stabilizing the frontline, says AFU spokesman Dmytro Lykhoviy.
Ukrainian forces repelled 14 enemy attacks over the past day near the captured town.
"According to the confirmed data, the operational situation is stabilizing in the area of the settlements of interest (Berdychi, Orlivka, Tonenke – ed.). Our forces are holding back the enemy within these settlements. Combat actions are ongoing."
Lykhoviy said there are no grounds to talk about the seizure of these settlements.
"The combat line has its own dynamics. The enemy sometimes has localized successes in some positions. For example, when firing positions are simply destroyed by artillery, then the personnel regroups and moves to other more favorable positions."
Russian forces are conducting active offensives? so the situation in the Avdiivka area is tough.
On February 26, Dmytro Lykhoviy said that Ukrainian forces had withdrawn from the village of Lastochkine.
Russian forces are trying to storm Orlivka from three sides after Ukraine's withdrawal.
Russian forces plan to capture the town of Chasiv Yar in the Donetsk region.
