Ukraine receives two Mi-171E helicopters from Argentina – FT
Two Mi-171E helicopters, which Argentina had previously ordered from Russia, were handed over to Ukraine, FT reports.
Argentina's president has prioritized alliances with the US, Israel, which he visited earlier this month, and Ukraine, to which he handed over two Russian-made military helicopters. newspaper said.
The agreements were reached during the visit of Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky to Buenos Aires to participate in the inauguration of Javier Milea.
Both helicopters, H94 and H95, have been taken out of service. They had reached their end-of-life before the scheduled overhaul.
The contract for the supply of two Russian Mi-171Es to Argentina was signed with Rosoboronexport in Buenos Aires in late August 2010.
This is Argentina's first purchase of Russian-made equipment, as sale price was estimated at €20 million, and the contract also included training for Argentine pilots and technicians.
The main task of the Mi-171E was to supply supplies to Argentine stations in the Antarctic and perform search and rescue operations.
The contract for scheduled maintenance was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and later due to sanctions against Russia.
