EU Parliament adopts resolution on arming Ukraine with profits from Russian assets

The EU Parliament adopted a resolution in support of Ukraine on the second anniversary of Russia's full-scale war.

Deputies called for weapons to be sent to Ukraine to help it win, as the European Parliament emphasizes that for Ukraine to win, there should be no restrictions on military aid to Ukraine.

EU countries pledge to provide Ukraine with artillery ammunition, air defense systems, long-range missiles, including TAURUS, Storm Shadow/SCALP.

The resolution states that all EU and NATO allies should support Ukraine militarily with at least 0.25% of their GDP per year.

The EU countries are also called upon to start negotiations with defense companies to ensure an increase in the production and supply of ammunition, shells and missiles to Ukraine.

The resolution also emphasizes the importance of confiscating frozen Russian assets to be used for Ukraine's recovery.

"Russia should be obliged to pay the reparations imposed on it in order to ensure a substantial contribution to the reconstruction of Ukraine," the document says.

Deputies are calling on the EU to maintain and expand its sanctions policy against Moscow and Minsk, including a ban on imports of Russian uranium and metallurgical products to the EU, introduction of a complete embargo on imports of Russian agricultural and fish products, etc.

The US has previously imposed a large-scale package of sanctions against Russia for its military aggression in Ukraine. Hundreds of legal entities have been restricted.

According to the EU foreign policy chief, almost 200 more individuals and companies have been added to the sanctions lists. They are also aimed at blocking "loopholes" for circumventing sanctions. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen previously reported that the EU was restricting Russia's access to drones.

The bloc has also imposed restrictions on a number of governors, "officials" in the occupied territories, and representatives of the North Korea as part of the 13th package of sanctions against Russia.
