Lithuania allocates €300,000 to support Ukrainian refugees

The Lithuanian government has agreed to allocate an additional €326,000 to support Ukrainian refugees, which will be transferred through the various ministries living in the country.

The whole sum will be allocated for expenses to be incurred in February 2024, including €160,000 to provide inpatient social care and €130,000 for a one-time allowance for compensation for the child's education.

Another €14,000 has been allocated for institutional social care provided per the procedure for allocating social services to foreigners.

Over €21,000 will be allocated to reimburse the living expenses of persons from Ukraine incurred by Vilnius University Hospital in October-December 2023.

The Lithuanian government also allocated €4 million to cover the expenses of Ukrainians studying in the state universities.

The remaining €352,000 euros will be allocated to Ukrainian master's students.

Lithuania approved a package of long-term military assistance to Ukraine worth €200 million and pledged to send ammunition, generators, and detonation systems, and in February, M577 armored personnel carriers.

The state has announced Ukraine's readiness to transfer drone production to their country partially. This step is seen as mutually beneficial cooperation and preparation of the Western neighbors for possible military threats.

Lithuania delivered another batch of weapons to Ukraine in early February as part of military assistance. In particular, it included shells for Carl Gustaf's anti-tank grenade launchers.

Since the beginning of the full-scale war, Lithuania's financial assistance has amounted to more than €1 billion.
