Solutions from Ukraine: Ukrainians encouraged to report corruption in service centers via chatbot or hotline

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine called on citizens of the country to report corruption and bribery in service centers to a chatbot or hotline.

The Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Ihor Klymenko, reported this.

What is the problem?

Previously, future drivers were required to undergo theoretical training in accredited institutions. Now, it is not necessary. Instead, practice, as before, must be completed in driving schools.

To pass the theoretical exam, one must contact one of the service centers under the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Gradually, these services have also become accessible at administrative service centers. Nonetheless, there are instances where bribes might be requested.

Today, the Ministry of Internal Affairs continues to carry out reforms, and one of the stages is the fight against corruption in service centers.

"The reform of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Service Centers is ongoing. It is important for us to implement it fully," said the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

What is the solution?

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine called on citizens of the country to report corruption and bribery in service centers to a chatbot or hotline.

How does it work?

"Therefore, we offer citizens the opportunity to participate in improving the work of Service Centers. If you have witnessed corruption or are being asked for a bribe for services, report it to the chatbot and hotline," Klymenko urged.

In particular, you can report the solicitation of a bribe:

• for the exam;
• for a place in the electronic queue;
• for public service;
• or about any other manifestation of corruption.

According to Klymenko, all reports will be checked by internal security operatives of the National Police.

It should be noted that the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine [Ukraine's government – ed.] approved the procedure by which Ukrainians can take a theoretical exam to obtain a driver's license without mandatory training at a driving school.

Five service centers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs received specially equipped cars for people with disabilities to take their driver's license practical exam.
