Zelensky and Bulgarian PM meet to discuss logistics and infrastructure development

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Prime Minister of Bulgaria Nikolay Denkov agreed to intensify logistics and infrastructure development.

Zelensky announced this on Facebook.

The head of state noted:

"Today, as always, we held productive and quite specific talks with Bulgarian Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov."

Zelensky thanked Bulgaria for supporting efforts in the Black Sea and the Danube region to expand trade flows and restore regular shipping.

"It is essential that we manage to ensure normal economic relations even in such a challenging time despite all the difficulties," he emphasized.

"We agreed with Bulgaria to intensify logistics and infrastructure development in our region. Our mutual respect for the principle of good neighborliness will add economic growth to both our countries," the President added.

As Rubryka reported, on February 26, Denkov began a visit to Ukraine together with other members of the Bulgarian government.

From the first days of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, Bulgaria has been providing Ukraine with various assistance.

In July of 2023, the Bulgarian authorities announced the transfer of 100 armored vehicles to Ukraine as part of the largest military aid package.

In December, Bulgarian President Rumen Radev vetoed the free provision of armored vehicles to Ukraine.

However, the Bulgarian National Assembly (Parliament) later overrode President Rumen Radev's veto regarding the supply of armored personnel carriers to Ukraine. In February, Bulgaria sent the first of a hundred promised armored personnel carriers to Ukraine.

Bulgaria is currently delaying the delivery of 100 armored personnel carriers to Ukraine because the Ministry of Defense has asked NATO to cover transport costs.

Furthermore, Bulgaria plans to provide Ukraine with approximately 150,000 euros for humanitarian assistance as a result of the challenging circumstances caused by the Russian Federation's aggressive invasion.

Also, Bulgaria will help Ukraine with English courses for Ukrainian pilots who will fly F-16 fighter jets.
