Ukraine uncovered 47 Russian-linked spy networks in 2023

Ukrainian law enforcement officers discovered 47 Russian spy networks last year. Their members prepared sabotage and missile strikes on Ukraine at the behest of the Russian special services.

The head of Ukraine's Security Service, Vasyl Maliuk, said this during the conference: "Ukraine. Year 2024."

In total, since the beginning of the full-scale war, 2,000 state traitors have been detained as part of this work. According to Maliuk, today, the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) is not looking for individual criminals but is using the experience gained in the fight against organized crime.

The most extensive network of agents that was uncovered was in the Mykolaiv region. According to Maliuk, 13 individuals were a part of it.

The head of the SSU also said that as part of the counter-intelligence measures, an agent network was exposed and detained, which operated in Dnipro and adjusted the rocket attacks on the city. At the direction of its members, the Russians hit the Dnipro high-rise building with a rocket. 44 people died then, including five children. Russian agents are now giving incriminating evidence.

Agency networks also cooperate in the surveillance of law enforcement representatives. The SSU uncovered seven malicious software bookmarks on Ukrainian military personnel's phones.

As reported by Rubryka, at least 38 Russian diplomats who can spy undercover in the countries of Northern Europe were identified by journalists during the investigation.

In addition, the central intelligence department of the Ministry of Defense obtained a list of Russian Federal Security Service employees who participate in the criminal activities of the aggressor country on the territory of Europe.

Switzerland has become a center for a fifth of Russian spies operating in Europe.
