Five Russian aircraft were ordered to terminate their mission: Ukraine's intelligence on A-50 plane downing
On February 23, Ukraine's intelligence shot down a Russian A-50 long-range radar detection aircraft near the Azov Sea, and five more Russian aircraft were withdrawn from combat operations.
The last takeoff of the A50 was on February 23 at 15:50 from the Akhtubinsk airfield and was supposed to carry out missions near the settlements of Primorsko-Akhtarsk and Zernohrad.
At 6:45 p.m., the radio reconnaissance stations recorded an abrupt cessation of the Shmel radar complex, which is equipped with A-50, in the area.
Radio intercepts of the Su-35 cover crew also confirm the fire damage to the modernized plane.
One of the Russian pilots reports on the air that he observed air defense systems, a flash, and explosions.
"An additional sign of the success of the joint operation of the DIU and the Air Force is the order to terminate missions for two Su-35 aircraft and three Su-34 aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces, which were flying missions near the village of Millerovo – some of them planned to conduct air strikes near Avdiivka."
The Russian long-range radar detection aircraft A-50 was fired from a Soviet S-200 air defense system.
