Polish farmers suspend blockade of one border checkpoint on occasion of two-year war
On the anniversary of the full-scale war, Polish farmers stopped blocking the Zosin-Ustyluh border crossing, border guards report.
Starting at 3 a.m. on February 24 and throughout the day, trucks and cars will be allowed to enter and exit the crossing point according to the established procedure.
Protesters continue to restrict truck traffic at the remaining checkpoints on the Polish side.
On February 20, Polish protesters began to restrict traffic near six checkpoints on the border with Ukraine. At some of them, not only truck traffic is blocked.
The protest of Polish farmers may be extended for until April.
For his part, Polish President Andrzej Duda said that the blockade of the Polish-Ukrainian border was caused primarily by Russian aggression and expressed hope that the conflict would be resolved through trilateral negotiations.
As reported, in his recent urgent video address, Zelenskyy instructed the government to be at the border with Poland by February 24 to resolve the blockade. In addition, he said that he himself was ready to come to the border, where the entire Ukrainian government-from "logistics to the agricultural sector"-and the Minister of Defense in particular-would be present.
The administration of Polish President Andrzej Duda supported Volodymyr Zelenskyy's idea to meet to resolve the border issue. However, they believe that the meeting should be held elsewhere, not at the border.
The meeting between the governments of Poland and Ukraine will take place on March 28 in Warsaw.
Polish authorities have decided to include border crossings with Ukraine, certain sections of roads and railways in the list of critical infrastructure. This will remove obstacles at the border for the supply of weapons and humanitarian aid.
