Rebuilding Ukraine: Canada allocates 130 million dollars for Ukraine’s reconstruction

Canada will provide Ukraine with 169 million Canadian dollars (about 130 million US dollars) for several reconstruction and development programs.

This was announced in the office of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau during his visit to Kyiv, according to Ukrinform.

Canada will provide $75 million (up from 57 million US dollars) in peace and security assistance, including demining, cyber support, and intelligence assistance.

Another 15 million Canadian dollars (about 11.5 million US dollars) will be used to complete the National Museum of the Holodomor Genocide in Kyiv.

In addition, almost USD 17 million will be allocated for humanitarian aid, USD 30 million for development aid, and almost USD 14 million for various stabilization assistance, including reducing threats from chemical weapons, countering disinformation, and several other projects.

As previously reported by Rubryka, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, held a meeting with the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, who is in the country on a visit. During the meeting, the leaders signed the Agreement on Security Cooperation between Ukraine and Canada.

Although Canada is geographically distant from Ukraine, the country, along with the USA, provided support to Ukrainians during the Russian-launched war of aggression.

In total, since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, Canada has allocated more than $9.7 billion in financial aid to Ukraine, including $2.4 billion in military support.

As reported, as part of the military aid package, Canada plans to transfer 800 SkyRanger R70 drones to Ukraine at a total cost of $95 million.

On February 14, it became known that Canada would allocate 60 million Canadian dollars (about 44 million US dollars) for the defense of Ukraine.

In particular, the country provided Leopard 2 tanks, air defense systems, artillery for armored vehicles, and ammunition. In addition, 200 Senator armored vehicles, which Canada previously promised to transfer to Ukraine, have already been produced.

The Ukrainian military has also already received a batch of the latest armored vehicles.

Since Russia's illegal occupation of Crimea in 2014, Canada has imposed sanctions against more than 2,600 individuals and legal entities.

At the end of October, Canadian representatives at a meeting of advisers on national security and foreign policy proposed to create a coalition of countries that would facilitate the return of Ukrainian children deported by the aggressor country.
