Russian drones strike apartment building in Dnipro: casualties reported
The Ukrainian air defense forces downed five Russian attack drones overnight over the central Dnipropetrovsk region, but authorities reported hits.
The attack damaged not only a multi-story residential building but also a company in the city of Dnipro, leaving eight people injured, Rubryka reports, citing the local governor.
"Defenders of the sky destroyed five drones over the region last night — two in Synelnykove and Dnipro districts each and one in Novomoskovk," said the Chief of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, Serhii Lysak. "Unfortunately, we couldn't avoid the hits. Apart from the multi-story building in Dnipro, the enemy targeted an enterprise. Out of the eight injured, two remain in the hospital in moderate condition, while the rest will receive outpatient treatment."
According to Lysak, search efforts continue in the damaged building to locate people who might still be trapped under the rubble.
The explosion destroyed two apartments on the 9th floor, one on the 8th floor, and partially one on the 7th floor, said Andrii Kulbach, acting deputy chief of the military administration.
One or two individuals may still be trapped under the rubble. Emergency rescue operations are ongoing, with approximately 40 rescuers and nine pieces of equipment on-site. Police and National Guard units are also present. Psychological support is being provided to residents of the building, and a heating center has been set up.
Residents from the 1st and 3rd entrances of the damaged building have been evacuated. Utility services have disconnected gas and water supplies.
Lysak also reported that the Russian forces have not ceased shelling the Nikopol district. The artillery fire targeted the district center, Myrivka, and Chervonohryhorivka communities.
Two enterprises, three private houses, and agricultural buildings were damaged. Power lines were affected, but fortunately, there were no casualties.
