Scholz pledges €1.1 bln in more air defense systems and missiles for Ukraine

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announces a new €1.1 billion military aid package for Ukraine, he says during press conference with Volodymyr Zelensky.
The new batch includes 36 armored wheeled howitzers from industrial stocks, 120,000 pieces of ammunition, two Skynex systems and missiles for IRIS-T missile launchers.
Scholz says his state is the second among the partners in helping Ukraine having allocated/pledged €28 billion in military aid.
On February 16, Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky arrived at the Federal Chancellery in Berlin for talks with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. The leaders plan to discuss further support for Ukraine in the defense, political and financial spheres.
As part of the visit, both leaders signed an agreement on security cooperation between the two countries.
Zelensky is scheduled to travel to Paris, where he intends to sign a second security agreement with French President Emmanuel Macron.
