Ukraine sends reinforcements to flashpoint of Avdiivka
The 3rd Separate Storm Brigade units have been urgently relocated to reinforce Ukrainian forces on the Avdiivka front.
The brigade said on Telegram that the situation in the eastern city was extremely critical when the brigade was deployed, Rubryka reports.
Separate battalions of the 3rd Storm Brigade conducted raids into areas of Avdiivka occupied by the Russian forces. The sector where the Ukrainian brigade is located is estimated to host approximately seven Russian brigades.
"Our soldiers are showing unprecedented heroism. We are forced to fight 360 degrees against new and new brigades that the enemy introduces," said Brigade Commander Andrii Biletskyi.
In the short time that the new reinforcement was present in the Avdiivka direction, two brigades of the Russian armed forces suffered critical damage. The exact losses in personnel and equipment will be reported later after the necessary data is confirmed.
The brigade said that the situation in Avdiivka remains threatening and unstable. Occupiers continued the active rotation of their troops and deployed new forces and means to the city.
What we know about the situation near Avdiivka
Avdiivka, Donetsk region, has been under attack by Russian occupiers since last autumn. Russian troops intensified their activities near the city over four months ago, in October 2023.
Positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the city itself are under attack by many tanks and other armored vehicles with the support of aviation and artillery.
According to the General Staff, only yesterday, the Armed Forces of Ukraine held the defense steadfastly near Avdiivka, inflicting significant losses on the occupiers. During the past day, the Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled 34 attacks in the area and another six near Severne and Nevilske in the Donetsk region.
Russian forces are trying to cut off the supply line; they outnumber Ukrainian forces because the Russian command has practically unlimited human resources and equipment.
Russian troops are advancing on Avdiivka from several directions, having concentrated over 40,000 troops there. The Russians lose 300-400 troops daily.
As of January 30, there are less than 1,000 civilians left in Avdiivka. The evacuation from the city continues.
Russian occupation forces are deploying armored groups to storm Avdiivka and Novomykhailivka; they are sent to support infantry groups. Ukrainian forces hold the defense firmly, destroy the enemy, and take Russian prisoners.
