Pregnant woman and 8-year-old boy and his mother killed in Russian missile attack on maternity ward in Selydove
On the night of February 14, Russian forces launched a missile strike on the front-line town of Selydove in Ukraine's eastern Donetsk region, killing a child with their mother and a pregnant woman.
According to the National Police, the Russian army destroyed a five-story building and a hospital wing with direct hits, Rubryka reports.
"The occupiers killed three patients — an eight-year-old boy, his mother, and a 38-year-old pregnant woman who was in the hospital for treatment," the statement said. "Six people were injured, including a baby who will turn six months old tomorrow."
Law enforcement officials added that the Russian rocket attack on the five-story building injured six civilians, including three children: a seven-year-old boy and two girls aged 12 and 16.
"Police paramedics provided assistance to the injured throughout the night, transporting them to medical facilities and evacuating people from the destroyed hospital. Many of the rescued patients are in critical condition," the police summarized in the statement.
Following the attacks, Russian propaganda launched an information-psychological operation claiming that the rocket strikes targeted a training ground with Ukrainian soldiers in Selydove, Donetsk region.
Rubryka also reported that Russian invaders shelled Selydove on the night of February 12. Three people, including two children, were injured in the attack.
