Ukraine's Security Service uncovers organizer of illegal Russian referendum during Kherson occupation

The Security Service of Ukraine exposed another organizer of the illegal referendum of the Russian Federation, which took place during the occupation of the right-bank Kherson region. During the fake plebiscite, the woman was a Russian "electoral committee" member in the then-captured village of Vesele, Kakhovsky district.

Ukraine's Security Service reported this.

Accompanied by armed invaders, she went around private homes and called on local residents to "vote for joining" the region to the Russian Federation. After the release of the community, the collaborator went to Kryvyi Rih under the guise of a resettled woman, where she tried to hide from justice. In addition, while in the city, the defendant issued documents for receiving social benefits and housing.

As a result of the stabilization measures, Security Service employees exposed the perpetrator, established her whereabouts, and detained her.

According to the investigation, the collaborator was a resident of the Novokakhovska urban community. At the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, the woman supported the Russian invaders and offered them her help in the war against Ukraine.

On the basis of the collected evidence, the investigators of the Security Service informed her of the suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 28, Part 5 of Art. 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (collaborative activity committed by a group of persons based on a prior conspiracy).

She is currently in custody. An investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the crime. The perpetrator faces up to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property.
