Russian attack left 53,000 households in Dnipro region without power

The Russian army damaged an electrical substation overnight in the central Dnipropetrovsk region on February 12, leaving over 53,000 households without electricity.

The blackout also trapped over a thousand workers in seven mines, Rubryka reports, referring to the Ministry of Energy.

The 330 kV substation in Pavlohrad, which belongs to the Ukrenergo state electricity operator, is disconnected. A fire broke out there, damaging the power equipment.

Over 53,000 residences in Pavlohrad and adjacent areas, as well as industrial facilities — a factory and seven mines — lost power.

"At the time of the attack, over 1,000 workers were underground in the mines. They were not brought to the surface — the backup scheme powered the mines and the factory. Later, the substation was restored from a diesel generator," the statement said.

The fire has now been extinguished, and electricity consumers have been partially restored. However, due to the unreliability of the connection, consumers who had been restored were again left without power by 8 am.

About 30,000 subscribers in Pavlohrad and adjacent areas are still without power. Restoration work is ongoing.

On the evening of February 11 and overnight on February 12, an air alert was declared in several regions of Ukraine due to the threat of Russian strikes with kamikaze drones and missiles. Russian forces again launched Shahed drones toward Ukraine.

In the Dnipropetrovsk region, a fire broke out at a power facility due to the Russian drone attack. About 29,000 subscribers in the Pavlohrad district were left without power. In Ternivka, 10,000 households were without water.

Russians also shelled Nikopol, and heavy artillery was used against the Marhanets community. According to the head of the administration, there were no casualties or injuries.

As reported, overnight on February 12, Russian forces attacked Ukraine with 17 drones, guided aviation missiles, and S-300 surface-to-air missiles. Ukrainian air defense destroyed 14 drones and one Kh-59 missile.
