Ukraine’s PM meets with IMF team to discuss reforms and funding

On February 12, a meeting was held between the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal, and the International Monetary Fund team led by the Deputy Director of the European Department of the IMF, Uma Ramakrishnan, in Kyiv.

This is reported on the Government portal.

Minister of Finance of Ukraine Serhii Marchenko and Deputy Executive Director of the IMF for Ukraine Vladyslav Rashkovan were also at the meeting.

The parties discussed the implementation of reforms and financing of Ukraine for this year.

"The government is working hard with partners in this direction. We have a positive decision regarding the Ukraine Facility for 50 billion euros and the support of the G7 countries," the head of the Ukrainian government emphasized.

The Prime Minister noted the effectiveness of the Ukrainian grain corridor and its positive impact on the economy. The meeting participants also outlined the points of GDP growth, including the development of the defense-industrial complex.

Denys Shmyhal talked about the work in the direction of confiscation of frozen Russian assets.

"This year, together with our partners, we expect to develop a mechanism that will allow us to direct these assets to the restoration of our country," the head of the government of Ukraine noted.

The Prime Minister thanked the Fund for the successful second review of the EFF program for $15.6 billion. He emphasized that the IMF is one of the largest financial partners of our country:

"In general, for 2022-2023, the Fund provided Ukraine with more than 7 billion US dollars. This year, we expect $5.4 billion from the IMF. We work systematically to ensure macroeconomic stability."
