Finland approves $200 mln military aid package for Ukraine

Finland approved its 22nd aid package to Ukraine worth $205 million, the Finnish Defense Ministry reports.

The aid takes into account both Ukraine's needs and the resource situation of the Finnish Defense Forces. The cargo information is not disclosed for security reasons.

The package includes products purchased from Finnish manufacturers with separate funding worth €30 million.

"There is a lot of know-how in the domestic industry, and we are working in the defense ministry to ensure that this know-how and potential can be used more effectively to support Ukraine. One example of this is our domestic ammunition production," said Finnish Defense Minister Antti Hakkänen.

The state is currently developing a long-term plan to support Ukraine. Finland has decided to participate in artillery and demining coalitions operating within the framework of the Ramstein-Ukraine defense summit, which coordinates military assistance to Ukraine.

Finland has so far allocated €1.8 billion to send defense supplies to the military.

Along with Canada, the government has now agreed to work together on Ukraine post-war recovery and reconstruction.

"The ministers spoke about the firm commitment of both countries to Ukraine and the importance of cooperation to support its recovery and reconstruction."

Major Finnish arms company increases artillery shell production five-fold in support of Ukraine. The Nammo facility has applied to participate in the EU's ASAP project to increase ammunition production.
