Norway to transfer several more NASAMS air defense systems to Ukraine
The Norwegian government proposes to the parliament to order ten more NASAMS missile launchers and four more fire control centers from Kongsberg Defense and Aerospace (KDA).
The new batch adds up to the purchase of equipment already transferred to Ukraine, the defense ministry reports.
The investment amounts to 3.45 billion krons
"The Norwegian NASAMS system saves Ukrainian lives and prevents the destruction of buildings and infrastructure. Russian missile and drone attacks are large-scale and brutal, so air defense is absolutely crucial for Ukraine. At the same time, I am concerned that we restore air defense capabilities for our own defense as soon as possible," said Defense Minister Bjorn Arild Gram.
On December 13, after a trip to the US, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in the Norwegian capital of Oslo on an unannounced visit.
He will take part in the Nordic Leaders' Summit that will take place on that day.
As part of his official visit to the Kingdom of Norway, Zelensky has already met with Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.
The leaders discussed support for Ukrainian defense, countering Russia's attempts to block navigation in the Black Sea, protection of Ukrainian settlements from Russian terror, and assessed the overall progress and prospects of bilateral cooperation.
