A meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council at the level of defense ministers will take place on February 15, the press service reports.
The two-day meeting of NATO defense ministers will be chaired by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.
According to diplomatic sources, Ukraine's defense minister will be invited to participate in the discussion on the war situation.
Since the beginning of Russia's war against Ukraine, NATO and its allies have been providing Ukraine with political and practical military assistance, including the supply of weapons, ammunition, spare parts, and other military equipment.
The previous 18th meeting of the Ramstein Contact Group was held online and focused on Kyiv's long-term needs.
The meetings in Brussels will be held at a time when the US Congress has blocked a project that includes funds to support Ukraine, as its forces are in dire need of artillery shells.
The NATO-Ukraine Council is a forum in which consultations between Ukraine and NATO member states can take place at various levels. The key topics of discussion at such meetings are security issues, including Russia's war against Ukraine.
The NATO-Ukraine Council was launched at the Vilnius Summit in 2023 as one of the three elements of the assistance package that brings Kyiv closer to the Alliance.
The package also includes a multi-year assistance program designed to assist the Armed Forces of Ukraine in achieving full interoperability with the armed forces of NATO member states.
