Zelensky and Portuguese FM discuss restoration projects for Zhytomyr region

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky met with the Portuguese delegation led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Portuguese Republic, João Gomes Cravinho. The delegation also included the Minister of Education of Portugal, João Costa.

The head of state expressed gratitude to Portugal for solidarity and effective support of Ukraine in countering Russian armed aggression, as well as for providing shelter for Ukrainian displaced people.
Volodymyr Zelensky highly appreciated the readiness of Portugal to participate in the reconstruction of educational institutions of the Zhytomyr region and the results of the Regional Reconstruction Forum, which took place on February 5 in Zhytomyr with the participation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Minister of Education of the Portuguese Republic.
"I know that yesterday you had an active day in Zhytomyr and took part in the Forum on the restoration of Zhytomyr region. I expect the practical implementation of the relevant projects will begin soon," he said.
Special attention was paid to the situation at the front and further defense cooperation between Ukraine and Portugal, in particular, the development of cooperation in the context of the accession of the Portuguese Republic to the aviation coalition.

Portugal's involvement in carrying out specific aspects of the Ukrainian peace plan and preparations for the Global Peace Summit were critical topics in the negotiations.
"Thank you for supporting the Ukrainian peace formula, all points of which are crucial for us. Preparations for the first summit at the level of leaders are currently underway, and I hope for Portugal's participation," the head of state said.
Due to João Gomes Cravinho's considerable personal efforts in enhancing interstate partnership, promoting state independence, and preserving Ukraine's territorial integrity, the President bestowed upon the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal the Order of Yaroslav the Wise, third class.

As previously reported by Rubryka, on February 5, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal, João Cravinho, and the Minister of Education, João Costa, arrived in Ukraine for a visit, during which they planned to discuss the issues of the war and the restoration of Ukraine.
