Ukrainian corridor has exported 20 mln tons of goods to 32 countries in just six months from Odesa ports – Deputy PM Kubrakov

In 6 months, Ukraine exported more than 20 million tons of goods from Odesa ports to 32 countries through the Ukrainian corridor.

The Deputy Prime Minister for the Reconstruction of Ukraine, Oleksandr Kubrakov, reports this.

"During half a year of operation of the Ukrainian corridor from the ports of Great Odesa, 661 ships exported more than 20 million tons of cargo to 32 countries of the world. 14.3 million tons are the products of Ukrainian farmers. Ukraine continues to ensure the world's food security," Kubrakov said.

According to him, Great Odesa's ports are increasing cargo transshipment. Thus, 6.3 million tons were exported in January – this indicator is almost equal to the pre-war level.

Kubrakov mentioned that the ports are anticipating 104 more ships to arrive, which will transport over 3 million tons of cargo.

In August, Ukraine announced a "humanitarian corridor" to free ships bound for African and Asian markets and to bypass Russia's de facto blockade after Moscow reneged on a deal that guaranteed its wartime exports.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces' Navy announced the opening of a temporary corridor that can be used by all civilian vessels, particularly those in the ports of Odesa.

In addition, the Ukrainian government has created a new mechanism for the insurance of ships against war risks, which will allow to significantly reduce the current insurance premiums for carriers that export and import from or to the country by sea.

As of the beginning of December, during the operation of the temporary sea corridor, Ukraine exported almost 700,000 tons of grain, mainly to European and African countries.

It is worth adding that the export of products through the temporary corridor introduced by Ukraine amounted to about 13 million tons of products at the end of December. At the beginning of December, this indicator reached 7 million tons.
