Ukrainian forces will redeploy troops and equipment to hold Kupyansk front more effectively – Land Forces commander

Colonel General Oleksandr Syrskyi, visited military units and subdivisions in the Kupyansk direction and decided to redeploy forces and equipment.

The commander heard reports from units directly at the control points and held operational meetings, the Land Forces report.

They considered possible scenarios of the Russian army's actions, taking into account the results of intelligence.

"The operational situation remains tense. Heavy fighting is taking place in all sections of the frontline."

Russian forces continue to conduct high-intensity assault operations and are constantly bringing in new reserves.

Syrskyi also listed the priorities, which are effective intelligence, coordinated use of all means of fire destruction, protection of units by means of electronic warfare, and preserving the lives of Ukrainian servicemen.

In the morning report of the AFU, Ukrainian  forces were reported to have repelled five enemy attacks near Synkivka and Ivanivka in Kharkiv region.

The ISW said that the Russian army had advanced to the section of the P07 Kupyansk-Svatove highway east of Tabaivka.

Advances were also recorded on the northern outskirts of Avdiivka.

ISW said geolocation images released on January 20 indicate that Russian forces captured Krokhmalne, 20 km northwest of Svatove.

Yet, as part of the winter-spring 2024 offensive, the Russian forces are unlikely to be able to turn their likely tactical achievements in the Kupiansk area into the wider mechanized maneuvers necessary for an operationally significant advance.
