Russian forces slash daily artillery shell usage by almost 50% – press service chief of Khortytsia troop grouping

The Russian military spends almost two times less ammunition daily than a few months ago. Both weather conditions and problems in Russia itself influence this. Over the past day, the occupiers have fired almost a thousand artillery strikes in the Lyman-Kupiansk and Bakhmut areas.

Illia Yevlash, the head of the press service of the Khortytsia operational-strategic group of troops, told about this on the air of the "Yedyni Novyny" telethon.

"The enemy continues to transfer its reserves to the front line. In particular, in the direction of Bakhmut, one of the enemy's key goals is to break through our defense line and move towards Chasiv Yar," Illia Yevlash said.

Over the past day, on February 2, the Russian occupiers fired 415 artillery strikes on the Bakhmut front. Four battles took place here.

Ukraine's armed forces eliminated about 100 occupiers, as well as 48 pieces of equipment, in particular, tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, armored vehicles, and various mortars and guns. Three ammunition warehouses and four shelters were also destroyed.

In the Lyman-Kupiansk direction, the Russian occupiers used aviation five times, particularly SU-34 attack aircraft and Mi-8 helicopters. Also, Russian troops fired 574 times with artillery.

The Ukrainian military took out 111 enemy forces and demolished 11 pieces of equipment, including two tanks, four infantry fighting vehicles, and five vehicles. They also razed five military shelters.

"Currently, the intensity of shelling has decreased a little. A few months ago, we could talk about 700 shellings per day in just one area. This is probably due to weather conditions and a rather unfavorable internal situation in the middle of Russia. If earlier they fired 60,000 rounds of ammunition per day, now it is around 30,000," said Illia Yevlash.
