United to win: Estonia provides Ukraine with Javelins, guns, and ammunition in new aid package
Ukraine received a new package of military aid from Estonia. It included Javelin anti-tank systems, machine guns, ammunition for small arms, various equipment, and diving equipment.
The Ministry of Defense of Estonia reported this.
"I am glad that the next aid package has arrived in Ukraine and is being used by Ukrainian defenders," said the head of the Estonian Defense Ministry, Hanno Pevkur.
This aid package's exact amount, arrival time, and other supply details are not being disclosed for security reasons.
"Recent events in Europe show that sending critical missiles and other military aid to Ukraine continues on a large scale, and in doing so, together with our allies, we send a clear message to the Kremlin that we will continue to support Ukraine until the victorious end comes," the head of the Ministry of Defense of Estonia added.
The next aid package from Estonia in the amount of 80 million euros, in addition to Javelin anti-tank missiles, included machine guns, cartridges for small arms, various equipment, and diving equipment.
As the Estonian Ministry of Defense added, since 2022, they have provided military aid to Ukraine in the amount of almost 500 million euros, or about 1.4 percent of the gross domestic product.
Estonia has previously transferred Javelins, howitzers, artillery ammunition, anti-tank mines, anti-tank grenade launchers, mortars, vehicles, communication equipment, field hospitals, medical supplies, personal protective equipment, and dry rations.
In Estonia's budget for 2024, EUR 30 million has been allocated to support Ukraine. This was announced by the head of the interparliamentary group of cooperation with the Republic of Estonia, Arseniy Pushkarenko, from the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine [Ukraine's parliament – ed.].
According to his information, 14 million euros from this sum are earmarked for the restoration of infrastructure, prosthetics for Ukrainian defenders, and training of representatives of local self-government bodies within the framework of European integration.
For reference:
Despite its small size, Estonia has been a major supporter of Ukraine since Russia's full-scale war commenced on February 24, 2022.
Estonian President Alar Karis announced that Estonia will provide Ukraine with assistance worth €1.2 billion by 2027. The country will allocate 0.25% of its defense budget to support Ukraine every year.
