United to win: Azerbaijan sends 25 more shipments of energy equipment to Ukraine

Under the coordination of the Ministry of Energy, in January 2024, Ukraine received another batch of aid from Azerbaijani partners, including 25 loads of energy equipment for restoration work.

The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine reported this.

What is the problem?

Fast and high-quality restoration of power equipment during the war is a challenge for power engineers. But thanks to partners, Ukraine can promptly restore damaged facilities, thereby strengthening energy security, noted Energy Minister of Ukraine Herman Halushchenko.

In total, since March 2022, Ukraine has received 92 shipments of energy equipment from Azerbaijan, with a total weight of more than 1,585 tons. In particular:

• 51 power transformer,
• 111 transformer substations and other equipment.

Thanks to this help from partners in Ukraine, a large-scale energy repair campaign was carried out – more than 2.2 GW of capacity was added to the energy system.

What is the solution?

This is the fourth tranche of assistance from Azerbaijan.

It included:

• transformer substations,
• power transformer,
• wires,
• disconnectors and other equipment for restoration and repair works.

How does it work?

The equipment received from Azerbaijan between November 2023 and January 2024 is distributed among 24 energy industry enterprises, namely operators of electricity distribution systems and enterprises of heat supply, gas, coal, and nuclear industries.

"We thank our partners for this support. Ukrainian energy companies use the provided equipment to restore objects that continue to be attacked by the enemy, in particular in the frontline regions. The works performed make it possible to maintain the stable operation of the energy system and ensure the needs of consumers in electricity and heat supply," the Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Halushchenko noted.

For reference:

In total, 154 Ukrainian children who suffered from the war and lost family members were brought to Azerbaijan for medical and socio-psychological rehabilitation as part of humanitarian aid measures.

Also, the humanitarian lyceum "Linguist," named after Zarifa Aliyeva, destroyed due to military operations in Irpin, was completely restored. Currently, the Azerbaijani side is doing appropriate work to restore several social objects that were seriously damaged in this city.
