20 Ukrainians injured in bus accident in Poland

On the night of January 27, a road accident with a passenger bus from Ukraine occurred in Poland, injuring 20 people, RMF FM reports.

The accident occurred near the Uhryniv-Dolhobyczów border crossing from Poland.

Representatives of the emergency service noted that there were 59 passengers and two drivers on the bus, all Ukrainian citizens.

The bus overturned at about 4:00 am near the village of Golubye, while making a turn.

18 people were taken to hospitals in nearby towns.

The State Fire Service in Hrubieszów member, Senior Captain Marcin Lebedowicz, says it was snowing and icy on this section of the road at the time of the accident. Rescuers said that weather conditions were unlikely to have caused the accident.

The rest of the passengers were given shelter at a school in Dolgobychuv until a replacement bus was arranged.

Emergency services are still working at the accident scene to find out the details of the accident.

Rescuers warned that traffic on the highway where the accident occurred was significantly hampered. According to preliminary data, the bus was traveling on the route Odesa – Warsaw.

The Consulate General of Ukraine in Lublin is cooperating with Polish law enforcement officers to clarify all the circumstances of the accident and is monitoring the treatment of the injured citizens. The issue of providing another bus for the passengers is also being resolved.
