United to win: American and German companies collaborate to provide Ukrainian military with cutting-edge 3D-printed drone
A new 3D-printed drone was developed for the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
The Army of Drones reported this.
What is the problem?
Drones have consistently been, and remain, one of the top priorities for the Ukrainian military leadership, both in the past and at present.
However, Ukraine has not yet reached mass production but is developing rapidly.
It is worth adding that increasing the production of domestic attack and reconnaissance UAVs is vital for Ukraine because they are many times cheaper, and the country will not depend on other manufacturers.
In addition, the Minister of Digital Transformation, Mykhailo Fedorov, recently called on Ukrainians to join the project and assemble FPV drones even at home.
Drones are also being actively improved and developed abroad.
What is the solution?
For example, a new 3D-printed drone was developed for the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
FPV-drone Titan Falcon is manufactured by the German company Donaustahl GmbH, and the American Titan Dynamics carried out the development.
How does it work?
The peculiarity of the drone is that the wings and stabilizers are entirely removable.
Several types of wings can be installed depending on the task. One can also choose between a regular tail and a V-shaped tail.
Specifications:
- wingspan: 2.1 m;
- take-off weight: 5.3 kg;
- cruising speed: 45-70 km/h;
- flight range: up to 400 km;
- flight time: 6 hours
As a reminder, Ukrainian inventors have developed the AD Counter FPV system, which blocks radio frequencies for Russian FPV drones.
For reference:
It should be noted that in July 2022, the Ministry of Digital, together with the Ministry of Defense, the General Staff of Ukraine's armed forces, and the State Special Forces, announced the first collection for the Army of Drones through the fundraising platform UNITED24.
So, it's been over a year since the introduction of the Army of Drones. During this time, Ukraine has successfully established mass production of drones, formed UAV strike companies, and trained numerous drone operators, which are considered the project's significant accomplishments.
In addition, the fundraising platform "United 24" collected $325 million in one year, and 10,000 UAV operators have already been trained in Ukraine as part of the Army of Drones project.
According to Mykhailo Fedorov, the Minister of Digital Transformation, the production and quantity of drones in Ukraine have risen by over 100 times from last year.
As he noted, there is a real boom in the production of drones in Ukraine. In particular, because the government managed to simplify procedures for developers and manufacturers of weapons and military equipment.
In particular, this year, the Cabinet of Ministers [Ukraine's government – ed.] allocated 40 billion hryvnias for investments in Ukrainian drone manufacturers.
