What's the problem?
Russia demonstrates cunning and cynicism on the front. During the day, the Russian forces are more restrained, but at night, they rain artillery shells and mines of all calibers on Ukrainian positions, even engaging the air force to attack. Ensuring the protection of Ukrainian soldiers from shelling becomes a top priority.
Also, amid the cold weather, rain, or snow, Ukrainian defenders sometimes stand in water up to their knees in the trenches. Military shelters need to be erected quickly and efficiently where rain won't seep in and must provide reliable protection against bullets and explosions.
What's the solution?
To alleviate the plight of the defenders, the Ukrainian producer has started manufacturing modular underground command posts that are reliable and comfortable.
The command post helps save soldiers' lives, as it can be deployed and retracted quickly on the front lines, providing protection from artillery shelling of any caliber when properly installed.
"The advantage of our army over the enemy: we fight with quality, with intelligence. At the same time, we can make weighted operational decisions because the lives of our soldiers and the success of military operations are at stake," said Brigadier General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Volodymyr Horbatiuk. "Even in the heat of war, we strive to secure and create comfortable conditions for the work and rest of the military. Command posts based on modular shelters meet the army's requirements and allow for setting up fortified headquarters on the front line, fulfilling their main task – commanding battles and dealing devastating blows to the enemy."
How does it work?
The first steel bunker has already been handed over to the Ground Forces on a complimentary basis and is being used for its intended purpose. The steel bunker consists of five or six (depending on the configuration) separate mobile bunkers.
These modules can have various purposes: command posts, sanitary facilities, residential space, and medical rooms.
"These interconnected underground shelters perform various functions – from residential and sanitary areas to the operational command staff. A whole underground complex of buildings is formed," said the company.
The assembled headquarters can accommodate about 30 servicemen. The modules also include shower cabins, boilers, workspaces, and places to install work equipment.
Modular blocks are made of corrugated steel bunkers and equipped with all the necessary amenities comparable to a good hotel: sleeping and working areas, showers and boilers, heating systems, lighting and communication, storage space for weapons and personal belongings, and electronic equipment.
The construction of the command bunker is based on the standard "Kryivka" bunker, which is already used in the Armed Forces. It has been modified, and the dimensions of the new version have been increased to 6 meters in length and 2.3 meters in height.
Recently, the Cabinet of Ministers allocated ₴17.5 billion for the construction of engineering and fortification structures. They will be directed to building engineering and fortification structures, corresponding equipment, and a system of non-explosive barriers.
Also, to ensure the pace of building new defense lines this month, the Cabinet of Ministers allocated ₴788.8 million from the state budget's reserve fund. With these funds, they will purchase vehicles and engineering equipment.
The State Enterprise "Forests of Ukraine" also increased supplies of material to the Armed Forces for the construction of fortification structures.
